Yunie Hong, Esq

Yunie Hong joined the Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center in June 2025, as the Supervising Attorney for its immigration work. After law school, Yunie practiced civil litigation at a large law firm. She then spent several years as an immigration attorney, first at Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County, and then at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles. She represented low-income immigrants who had suffered abuse and human rights violations and were seeking humanitarian-based immigration status. Yunie continued advocating for immigrant communities as Director of Policy Advocacy at a national nonprofit, engaging in advocacy with legislative offices and federal agencies to address the barriers faced by low-income, monolingual Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. She then worked as a Pro Bono Coordinating Attorney with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), providing mentorship to pro bono attorneys in their representation of unaccompanied minors before immigration courts and USCIS. Yunie also served as Program Manager at the Gilchrist Immigrant Resource Center in Montgomery County, MD. Most recently, Yunie was a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, in the Immigrant and Employee Rights Section.

Yunie received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and her law degree from Berkeley Law. Yunie was selected as a 2013 Community in the Capital fellow for her work on behalf of low-income AAPI communities. Yunie is admitted to practice law in Washington,  D.C. and California.
