Direct Legal Services:

Housing and Community Justice Project

Through this project, the APALRC provides direct legal services, community education, and sustained support to low-income Asian Americans and community groups in the D.C. metropolitan area on a range of tenants' rights, affordable housing, and community development issues. Through the project, the APALRC connects community members to existing services and provides direct representation to tenants facing eviction or other unlawful conduct of landlords, fair housing discrimination, and issues with access to government-subsidized housing. In addition, the project works with low-income and limited-English proficient community members, organizers, and other stakeholders to develop community initiatives and groups that preserve local communities and build community power, such as tenants' associations and coalitions.
